Firewatch Services

Texas Compliant Firewatch Services

Ranger Security Protection provides Texas‑compliant Fire Watch services designed to help businesses, contractors, and property owners meet OSHA requirements, Texas Fire Code expectations, and local Fire Marshal directives when fire risks are elevated.

In Texas, Fire Watch services are commonly required when hot work is performed, when fire protection systems are impaired, or when mandated by a local Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ), including city fire departments or the Texas State Fire Marshal’s Office. Failure to provide proper Fire Watch coverage can lead to project shutdowns, fines, insurance issues, and increased liability exposure.

OSHA & Texas Fire Code Alignment

While OSHA establishes federal Fire Watch requirements under 29 CFR 1910.252, enforcement in Texas is often driven by:

  • Local Fire Codes (based on the International Fire Code (IFC) as adopted by Texas jurisdictions)
  • Fire Marshal orders during construction, renovations, and system outages
  • Insurance carrier requirements enforced through the Texas Department of Insurance (TDI)
  • Hot work permit conditions on commercial and industrial sites

Ranger Security Protection’s Fire Watch services are structured to meet both federal OSHA standards and Texas/local fire authority expectations, ensuring smooth inspections and uninterrupted operations.

What Our Texas Fire Watch Services Include

Our Fire Watch personnel are trained and assigned solely to fire prevention duties, consistent with OSHA and Texas enforcement standards. Services include:

  • Continuous visual monitoring of active hot work areas (welding, cutting, grinding, brazing)
  • Patrol of surrounding spaces, including adjacent rooms, floors, walls, ceilings, and concealed areas where heat transfer or spark migration could ignite combustibles
  • Immediate response to smoke, sparks, or fire using approved fire extinguishing equipment
  • Maintenance of clear communication with supervisors, site safety officers, and emergency services
  • Authority to stop work when unsafe or non‑compliant fire conditions are observed
  • Post‑work fire monitoring for a minimum of 30 minutes after hot work is completed, as required by OSHA and commonly enforced by Texas Fire Marshals

When Fire Watch Is Commonly Required in Texas

Fire Watch personnel are frequently required on Texas job sites when:

  • Combustible materials are within 35 feet of hot work and cannot be fully removed or shielded
  • Sparks or molten material could pass through floor or wall openings
  • Combustible materials exist on the opposite side of walls, roofs, ceilings, or partitions
  • Automatic fire protection systems (sprinklers, alarms, fire pumps) are impaired or offline
  • A Texas Fire Marshal or local fire department requires Fire Watch coverage
  • Insurance carriers mandate Fire Watch as a condition of continued operations

These requirements are especially common on construction sites, petrochemical facilities, warehouses, refineries, manufacturing plants, healthcare facilities, and commercial buildings throughout Texas.

Trained Fire Watch Guards — Texas Ready

Our Fire Watch guards understand the expectations of Texas fire authorities and are prepared for site inspections and enforcement activity. Each guard:

  • Is trained in fire hazard recognition and extinguisher use
  • Remains dedicated exclusively to Fire Watch duties during assignment
  • Maintains constant alertness and a clear line of sight to hazards
  • Works in coordination with site safety officers and management
  • Helps document compliance for inspections, audits, and insurance review

Reduce Liability. Maintain Compliance. Keep Projects Moving.

In Texas, Fire Watch coverage is not just a safety measure—it is often a legal, inspection, and insurance requirement. Ranger Security Protection helps you remain compliant, avoid costly shutdowns, and protect lives and property.
